Squid & Cuttlefish 2-Section Ultralight Boat Rod
I recently took the Squid Cuttlefish Rod out for a series of sea fishing trips to see if its ultralight claims held up against actual marine conditions. This two-section boat rod is clearly optimized for specific cephalopod tactics, and I was eager to test how that 9:1 action felt when working jigs.
Performance & Build Quality
The build quality is remarkably sturdy despite the featherlight 61-gram weight, utilizing a design that feels both responsive and durable. It manages to balance the necessary stiffness for setting hooks with enough sensitivity to detect subtle bites from cautious squid. The two-section assembly is secure and shows no signs of wobble or weak points under tension.
Day-to-Day Experience
Setting up the rod was a breeze, and the modular design makes it incredibly easy to stow in a crowded boat cabin. On the water, the lack of weight meant I could fish all day without the usual forearm strain that comes with heavier boat gear. The casting action was intuitive, allowing for precise placement of lures right where the cuttlefish were schooling.
This rod is perfect for dedicated cephalopod anglers who demand a lightweight, portable, and highly sensitive tool for their boat-based fishing adventures.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this rod delivers on its promises with a stellar 4.94/5 rating that reflects its specialized utility. For $99.00, it is a focused investment that genuinely improves the fishing experience for anyone targeting squid or cuttlefish.
